As per several reliable reports Qatari buisnessman are in discussion with Joan laporta for opening a franchise of Football Club Barcelona. Joan Laporta was spotted in Qatar few days back in between his hectic schedule and now it has been reported that the club is studying the legalities and possibilities of opening a franchise in Qatar.

Manchester City group is already operating on franchise model and have several franchise in various leagues like Manchester City FC, New York City FC, Mumbai City FC to name a few. No decision has been made as of now .

Barcelona Football Club is struggling with the FFP situation in La liga and trying hard to generate funds so if it happens it could mean a big money injection for the struggling economy of the club. The multi million dollars proposal is said to be near €100 million per year to use Barcelona 's name for one of the football club in Qatari league.
